The v-sync setting has its own frame buffer settings. the gpu max buffered frames does what denton said about how many frames your gpu prerenders, but it definitely doesn't require v-sync to work. #3. denton of science. jun 19, 2014 @ 2:47pm without vsync your graphic card is rendering 1:1 it doesent save the frames, it does send the frames to. I think it's the same setting you can find in your nvidia control panel called max pre-rendered frames. it has something to do with forcing your cpu to limit itself until the gpu can keep up, which in some cases will result in better performance.. What's gpu buffered frames rockraider jul 3, 2014, 9:21 am in games like watch dogs and far cry 3 i see options are from 1-5 what is it job and is it affecting my fps sorry for my bad english.
I found that the only way i can make fc3 play smoothly is forcing "maximum pre-rendered frames" in the nvidia driver-panel to '1', or else i'm looking at a stuttering mess that looks like 15fps, even though it really is 60 fps. setting the in-game value (gpu max buffered frames) to '1' does not result in the same smooth gameplay. so what is going on here?. Far cry 3 running flawlessly?help others with your specs here lets try and make a clean thread about what settings and specs you use if the games runs fine or better gpu max buffered frames: 1 directx 9 msaa anti-aliasing: off (can't change) alpha to coverage: standard (can't change). 4930k + powercolor 290x - 16g of ram. far cry 3 - full mission "ambush" 60 fps evga gtx 980 @ 1574/2000 + 4790k @ 4.8 ghz - duration: 4:11. clockner 340,235 views.
